It seemed that Abraham and Sarah got impatient during the waiting process. They decided to take matters into their own hands. Sometimes the waiting process is longer than we want but it is best to wait on God. My revelation was to learn how to wait well in spite of the length of time. I learned not to lean on my own understanding and wait on the Lord.

4) Write a paragraph about your revelation of Abraham and Sarah and the waiting process.
• God has appointed times (Kairos) for His will and purpose to be manifested. Kairos is defined as a time when conditions are right for the accomplishment of a crucial action. For example, the birth of Jesus was a Kairos event. God had already promised Abram the Kairos event in Genesis 12:2-3, “I will make you into a great nation…” However, Abraham and Sarai did not navigate their Chronos time well. Chronos is defined as the forward propelling time that’s measure by clocks/calendars. During their waiting period, they were liars, bigamist, abusive and passive just to name a few. It was the enemy of God’s word who didn’t want Abraham and Sarai’s Kairos and Chronos to intersect; however, in the fullness of time Isaac was born. I too have not navigated my Chronos time well either. Looking back over my life, I now realized that many of my decisions were for selfish gain not for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Going forward I pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide me to make every moment count as a Kairos and Chronos moment for the Kingdom of God.

Even though waiting is difficult, because we want what we want, and unfortunately we want it now, which is what makes the waiting difficult. The revelation I received is that when we take a situation into our own hands instead of allowing God to work it out in His timing, we “will” mess it up. So we have to trust and believe that when it is time for it to come to pass, God will do it. Waiting does to mean we are being denied, it means wait!

I can relate to Abraham and Sarah because time always seems to run out or get the best of me, most of the time I now have found out that I let my mind get the best of my ability to function as I suppose. But when I read Abraham and Sarah’s story I realize that when I jump the gun and do not follow the instructions things get messed up, but God. I put myself in the shoe of Hagar when Sarah told her to go and lay with Abraham and conceive a child for them because she was too old by ‘Sarah laughing God showed her he meant what he said that she was going to conceive but so did Hagar. Ishmael had to live 13 years with Abraham then Sarah conceived Issac with whom the covenant was made.

I could relate to Sarah and Abraham. There’s been times in my life when I felt like I was running out of time and what I thought God promised just wasn’t going to happen for me. I doubted what I heard and at other times I thought “Perhaps I’m suppose to step out on faith and do the thing and some how God would jump in there with me”. I was severely wrong. But during the waiting process your mind can play tricks on you. Overall I learned not to trust my emotions but to hang onto God’s word and really embraced the waiting process because he is right there with us helping us through the process and using times like this for us to get to know him better.

I think that God had Abraham and Sarah wait for so long because he wanted to show them how they could be rewarded when they trust him. God told them what he would do for them, but after waiting for so long, they doubted him. Even though it may seem like God is neglecting us, everything is apart of his plan. Just because things aren’t happening when and how we want them to, does not mean that he will not bless us. We have to trust God and be patient for our biggest reward.

God always keeps his promise, What we must remember is that our timing is not God’s timing. Proverbs 16:9 says In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

My revelation in the process of waiting with Abraham and Sara to me is that God’s timing is not our timing. He will do what he wants to do when and how he wants to do it. In the waiting GOD’s strengthening you and getting you to trust and believe in him bascially he is stretching you to grow. The waiting also is a period of preparation God is such a gentleman he prepares us for what he will Bless us with. I can relate to being old and didn’t believe for a moment that I would have a child. The pregnancy had small speed bumps like being on bed rest, three days a week I was in the hospital on a monitor and they would listen to and monitior his heart beat.

I can understand how Abraham and Sarah felt in the process. Her head flooded with all sorts of negativity, confusion, embrassment and shame. Everyone around you appearing to be blessed, to be conceiving, to be producing and time is not on your side. All during a time when being barren was frowned upon. Feeling left out, mocked, disappointed, and empty. And Abraham having to bare/share the guilt and responsibility of it all. Trying to encourage/motivate and please a depressed wife perhaps caused him to abort and lose sight of the promise the Lord had already revealed to him and confirmed. It is easy to want to take matters in your own hands to stop the hurt and fit in. However, we must be careful not to get in God’s way, less we produce counterfeits and prolong the promise.
